1980 Fall Gig Itinerary w/Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden, Pat Metheny, Paul Motian
First Part of a 2 month USA Tour-a bit disastrous because of illnesses of band members
Saxophonist Julius Hemphill Mentions
I was asked about a Quartet with Paul Motian, Julius Hemphill, Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny. The above PDF pages are copied from Motian’s 1980 Notebooks and Calendars. It appears that only 1 concert happened at Ryles in Boston. Following that, Motian organized the tour with Dewey Rodman replacing Hemphill (Itinerary above). But there were lots of notes/ideas for Hemphill in Motian’s bands.
